Camera driver not available – Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000
The Victus by HP 15-fa0000 series includes an HP Wide Vision 720p HD Camera with integrated dual-array digital microphones. If the camera driver is not available or the camera isn’t detected, follow these steps:
Check Device Manager
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Cameras or Imaging devices.
- Look for HP Wide Vision HD Camera or an Unknown device with a warning icon.
Update/Install the driver
- In Device Manager, right-click the camera (or unknown device) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- If Windows finds and installs a driver, restart the notebook and test the camera.
Run Windows Update
- Go to Settings > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install all available updates, including optional driver updates.
- Restart and test the camera with the Camera app or video calling software.
Use HP Support Assistant
- Open HP Support Assistant (preinstalled on Victus laptops).
- Run Updates to check for any HP driver or firmware updates for your notebook.
- Install recommended camera or chipset drivers, then restart.
Verify privacy and app permissions
- Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
- Make sure Camera access is turned on and that the specific app (e.g., Teams, Zoom) has permission.
If the camera still does not appear in Device Manager after these steps, the issue might be hardware-related. In that case, please contact HP support for further assistance
i have done all the above step but still cannot find camera driver in my device manager and cannot access the camera

Consumer grade laptops use generic windows camera drivers. Only some high end laptops come with HP camera drivers.
Please run the webcam test by pressing F2 when booting. Select either component or system test and look for the webcam device. If it fails the diagnostics there is an actual hardware problem.
Does the camera show up in the device manager? Bring up the Windows device manager and try rolling back the camera driver. Possibly a Windows update installed the wrong driver.
Did you try rolling back the camera driver?
It could be the camera driver or the USB driver if the camera is connected to the USB. Many internal cameras are connected to the USB.
In the pictures below you would select the camera driver and then look for 'rollback' If the word 'rollback' is grayed out then uninstall it.

If you cannot rollback the driver then try to find the best one or let windows try. One way is to just uninstall the camera and reboot as described in this official HP document..
If uninstalling or rolling back did not work then see if there is a windows restore point that has a date from when the camera last worked.
This video describes how to use a restore point. Alternately enter restore in the windows search bar.
If this is an emergency such as a zoom conference for a job application and you critically need a camera then consider a factory restore if your system supports factory cloud restore.
It does not seem that you have cloud restore
Please verify the obove product ID is correct. if this is a new system did you buy it with windows or freedos?
Let me know what you find out.
