My in-built camera was working fine, but all of a sudden stopped working after I update the app on the Windows store.

The following are the screenshots I get when I tried to resolve the matter.

Solution

Your HP notebook PC is equipped with a privacy camera kill switch which can cut off power to the front-facing webcam, protecting you from any potential hackers. Therefore, the error message you are seeing is proof of the functionality of a privacy-related feature and is not due to an actual hardware or software issue.

To use your webcam, simply slide the switch on the right side of your HP notebook PC. Privacy camera kill switch locations may vary, hence sample images are provided below to assist you in locating its potential location.
