Hello My problem is i notice this just a few days that whenever i type the letter took awhile to appear and when i press backspace 3 letters only deletes at a time then a pause then 3 letters again, i did a bit of testing and tried it on my External keyboard via usb, it works normally, type is responsive and theres no delay and the backspace button, i hold it the letters deleted one by one fast like what you expect and the virtual keyboard too works normally and funny enough i tried to use a polling checker and here is the result, i just press hold one Letter and here:

Hi @0oZipero0,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To help me understand the situation better, could you please share a bit more information?

 Please let me know:

  1. What is the exact model of your laptop?
  2. When did this issue start happening after an update, restart, or no clear trigger?
  3. Have you recently updated the BIOS/EC firmware, keyboard drivers, or Windows updates?
  4. In Device Manager, does the built-in keyboard show any warning symbols or does it appear normal?
  5. Does the lag happen even in the BIOS/UEFI menu (before Windows loads)?

In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Restart and power reset: Shut down the laptop fully, disconnect the charger, hold the power button for 15–20 seconds, then restart.
  • Check BIOS/UEFI: Enter BIOS and see if the keyboard responds normally there this helps determine if Windows is part of the problem.
  • Update or reinstall keyboard drivers: In Device Manager, uninstall the built-in keyboard (it will reinstall after reboot).
  • Turn off filter keys: In Windows Settings → Accessibility → Keyboard, make sure Filter Keys is disabled, as it can cause delay.
  • Check for BIOS updates: Visit https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/laptops to update BIOS mention the serial number and the windows and download the latest BIOS  (For BIOS, the laptop must remain plugged in and fully charged throughout the process. Do NOT interrupt it.)
  • Windows update:

Please perform the steps below to check for pending Windows updates:

• Open Settings.

• Go to 'Update & Security'.

• Click 'Windows Update'.

• Click 'Check for updates' and install everything available.

• Restart your PC after installation.

  • Boot into Safe Mode: See if the keyboard still lags there this helps check if a background driver or service is interfering.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!

Take care and have an amazing day ahead!

Best regards,

What is the exact model of your laptop?
Victus by HP Laptop 16-d1176TX

When did this issue start happening after an update, restart, or no clear trigger?
No clear trigger i just noticed it one day like a week ago..

When did this issue start happening after an update, restart, or no clear trigger?
I remember it did a windows update last week but i did saw a "First install" firmware update in the device manager back in Tuesday Nov 25.

In Device Manager, does the built-in keyboard show any warning symbols or does it appear normal?
No error on the keyboard
Have you recently updated the BIOS/EC firmware, keyboard drivers, or Windows updates?
No, its on the latest BIOS, F20

Does the lag happen even in the BIOS/UEFI menu (before Windows loads)?
Yes tried it 2 days ago, it still lags/delays in the BIOS.

I did all the troubleshooting you recommended days ago and i still got the same issue.

I dont know if its related but at the same time this keyboard situation is happening there's an exclamation point in the device manager
"UCM-UCSI ACPI Device"

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

UCSI PPM failed to complete UCSI command in a timely manner. Please contact UCSI device or system manufacturer to investigate. (Command:PpmReset)
