Unfortunately for your situation, Windows 10 has a horrible history of bluetooth issues, as MS has issued one Windows Update after another and still does not have it working right all the time.

Some wireless keyboards and mice are dual-use, in that they support both WiFi and Bluetooth.  I know because I have two of those mice myself.  If yours is one of those and it is connected via WiFi, when you switch on BT, that will cause the keyboard to switch to BT and attempt to Bind, during which, the keyboard will cease to function.

I had similar problems with built-in BT on a laptop and had to switch over to using an external BT dongle to fix that.
