Hi, I have a HP Pavilion 15-cs3xxx laptop with a bulging battery.
Is there any chance that the battery could explode or cause a fire if I just use the computer with AC or use the computer without AC as the battery is still operable for some length without AC?
Is there a recall on this issue?
In advance, thank you

Can you provide the system SKU or HP product number?
It is quite difficult to give some very specific information when we do not know the exact hardware configuration.
At four to five years of use, I am not surprised that the battery is not operating as expected.
That time frame of ownership is an estimate I derived from the Maintenance & Service guide for your notebook.
The main battery provides current to the CMOR BIOS chip so without the battery there will be issues.
You definitely need to replace the main battery.

It is a lithium battery and at end of its service life, so there is always a safety concern of the battery having an overheating event or worse.
There is no open recall that would be still active after several years of ownership.
