My Laptop has developed a bulge over Xmas and it's not from eating too much Xmas Ham!

How do I find out if there is a product recall?

Regards

Chris

You're very welcome.

It's never happened on the two HP notebooks I own, but I never leave them plugged in with the batteries in a constant 100% charge state.

I only plug them in when the low battery notice comes on, charge them up and then unplug them again.

I found this document online regarding battery recalls.

Hi, Chris:

Sounds to me like the internal battery has begun to swell and is now stressing out the other notebook parts.

I recommend that you remove and replace the battery as soon as possible.

Below is the link to the service manual:

One of the contributing factors that leads to battery swelling is leaving the notebook plugged into A/C power most of the time with the battery in a constant 100% charge state.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your quick reply.

So the battery is not faulty or part of a product recall?  The battery swelling is a normal occurrence?

Cheers

Chris
