Hi. I have a problem with my bluray-dvd-cd burner. It's model is UJ 272. Recently it cannot burn CDs. Windows gives me an error and says make sure my firmware is up to date. I also tested with different speeds. When I change it to 8x it gives me another error which says i should use other speeds. However, It is not something happens all the time. Something it can burn successfully but many time it cannot. I also could burn on a recently faild one. It is about 1 year since the last time i used it for burning, so I have no idea when it started to happen. I used different CD brands but doesnt change the result. I assume if it is correpted it should not burn at all but it does. Also, I used third party softwares and build in windows burner but no dice. My windows version is 20H2. Could you please advise me.?

CD/DVD/BR devices have multiple lasers. one for CD/DVD, the second for BR. These have lenses over them that can become dirty over time. There are disk cleaning kits consisting of a plastic disk with "whiskers" on it that, when it spins, the "whiskers" clean the lenses. You used to be able to buy these at CD stores, but since those are long gone, you would have to look online.
These will not harm the drive in any way and it's worth trying to see if that fixed the issue.

@WAWood
Thank you for the quick reply. Before posting here, I had gently cleaned both of lenses with cotton swabs and robbing alcohol . It didn't change anything. I am going to buy one of those cd cleaners and give it a try. Also a weird thing happened when I burned a CD. The burn speed was super slow and finally the burner said it is burned successfully, but when I insert the disk, there is no data inside the disk. it just shows that the disk is full while there is nothing in there. I will keep you posted when I tried the cd cleaner.

Most folks these days know little to nothing about CD/DVD devices, so it's surprising to learn that you already cleaned the lenses on yours. That being the case, the cleaning kit is likely a waste of time and money.
You would probably need to replace the drive.
