HP Notebook - 14s-dk0144au
Hello from the Philippines. I bought an HP laptop three years ago, but it died two years ago, so I only used it for a year. I'm wondering what kind of repair I need to do to fix it. The laptop died because of an accident that happened when I was between the ages of 10 and 11. I spilled a cup of water on it, specifically on the keyboard, and didn't realize that I needed to turn off the main switch, which is the power button, to prevent any current from flowing. Because I was careless and inconsiderate of my things at the time, I didn't turn off my laptop. After the water incident, I already noticed a slight problem with my laptop, and it slowly died until it gave up after two months. At first, the monitor shut down, and I thought it just crashed or had a low battery. But it had a 40%-70% battery charge before or after it died. I charged it for 1-2 hours, hoping it would turn on, but it didn't. I was already nervous at that time, and when my dad and mom found out that my laptop was not functioning, my dad decided to take it to the place where it was bought. After a careful inspection, the technician found out that the SATA slot for the HDD was already burnt out, and nothing could be done. The technician recommended buying a new laptop or computer instead of replacing the motherboard because it would cost as much as buying a new laptop or phone. After two or three years of not opening the broken HP laptop, I decided to give it a try and charge it, and to my surprise, the laptop came back to life. But note that the laptop's SATA slot is burnt, so there was no boot device. I cleaned the burnt and melted SATA plastic slot, and now it's working. The monitor is on, and I booted it on Windows to go, and it's functional, but it's temporary. I still prefer to have an internal hard drive that is functional. Some keys, including ESC and the up button, are not working
