Hi,
My name is Marina. I’m a graphic UX/UI designer and animator working with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD/Figma, After Effects, Premiere Pro). I’m looking for a Windows HP laptop optimized for design and animation projects, with these priorities:

  • At least 16 GB RAM, upgradeable to 32 GB or more

  • Not a gaming-focused device

  • Preferably runs relatively quiet when working

Can you suggest recent HP laptop models that fit these requirements?

Any advice from users with hands-on experience would be great!

Thanks!

See you

Marina

Hi @mkli73,

I understand you’re looking for an HP laptop suitable for Adobe Creative Cloud work (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD/Figma, After Effects, Premiere Pro) but with a budget around $800–$900. Let’s explore some options that balance performance and cost.

1. HP Envy 15 / Envy 16 (Base Models)

Some Envy 15/16 configurations with Intel Core i5 or Ryzen 5/7 CPUs, 16 GB RAM, and 512 GB SSD can sometimes be found in the $800–$900 range during sales or refurbished units.

Integrated Intel Iris Xe or AMD Radeon graphics are enough for 2D design and UX/UI, though heavier video editing will be slower.

Pros: Solid build, quiet operation, good display for color accuracy (Full HD IPS).

Cons: Limited GPU performance for 3D animation or heavy Premiere Pro projects.

2. HP Pavilion 15 / 16 (Performance Models)

Pavilion 15-eh / 16-eh series with Ryzen 5/7 CPUs and 16 GB RAM.

Some include lightweight NVIDIA MX450 / MX550 GPU, giving a modest boost for After Effects or Premiere Pro.

Often priced around $850–$900 for new or lightly refurbished units.

Pros: Affordable, good RAM and SSD, decent display.

Cons: Build not as premium as Envy/Spectre, fan noise under heavy load can be noticeable.

3. HP ProBook / Business Laptops (Refurbished Deals)

Some HP ProBook 450 G9 or similar business laptops can offer 16 GB RAM, SSD, and Intel i5/i7 in your budget if bought refurbished or on sale.

Pros: Quiet, reliable, professional build.

Cons: Screen quality may be adequate but not as color-accurate as Envy/Spectre.

I hope this helps.

Hi @mkli73,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’re looking for an HP Windows laptop optimized for graphic design, UX/UI, and animation work with Adobe Creative Cloud. Let’s go through a few options and considerations to help you choose the best fit.

RAM & Performance

Look for models with at least 16 GB RAM, ideally upgradeable to 32 GB or more for smooth multitasking with Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.

Consider laptops with Intel Core i7/i9 (13th Gen) or AMD Ryzen 7/9 (7000 series) CPUs for efficient rendering and design workflows.

Graphics

A dedicated GPU (like NVIDIA RTX 4060/4070 Laptop GPU) can help with animation and video editing tasks.

If your workflow is mostly 2D design (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD/Figma), integrated graphics (Intel Iris Xe or AMD Radeon) are usually sufficient.

Display

A high-resolution display (at least Full HD, preferably 4K) with good color accuracy (100% sRGB or Adobe RGB) is critical for design work.

Consider HP Spectre x360 16 or HP Envy 16 models with OLED or high-color-accuracy panels.

Noise & Build

Non-gaming HP laptops like Spectre x360 or Envy series tend to run quieter under normal workloads.

Look for models with efficient cooling systems and quiet fans if you prioritize a low-noise environment.

Storage

SSD storage (512 GB or 1 TB) ensures fast loading and rendering times.

NVMe PCIe SSDs are recommended for large project files and smooth performance.

Other Considerations

Port availability: Ensure USB-C, USB-A, and HDMI ports are available for peripherals and external displays.

Battery life: Some HP Spectre models offer 8–12 hours, useful for portability and uninterrupted work.

Touchscreen / Pen support: Optional, only if you plan to sketch or use a stylus for UX/UI mockups.

Recommended HP models for your use case (recent and widely praised):

HP Spectre x360 16 (Intel or AMD, 16–32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, OLED option)

HP Envy 16 (Intel Core i7/i9, RTX 4060 GPU, 16–32 GB RAM)

HP ZBook Studio G9 (workstation, for heavier 3D/animation workflows)

I hope this helps.

Hello Kuroi_Kenshi, thank you for your reply.

I check the models and are fine but their cost is above my budget.

Is there any model for my case around the $800-$900?

Thanks
