My laptop has been overheating. I've tried literally everything from checking for viruses  to reapplying thermal paste and I can't fix it. Here is a link to my forum post about it.

But that is not the topic of this post. I've decided to replace the motherboard thinking it may be a problem with the processor or some other piece of hardware. I found this forum post about replacing the motherboard on my model laptop.

I actually found a motherboard with a higher model processor (AMD A10-5745M 2.1 GHz) for $50 cheaper on ebay and I wanted to make sure it is compatible. The motherboard product number is 763424-501. My laptop's serial number is 5CD426279F and product number is G4V48AV

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

To answer my own question... I found the service manual for my computer. Starting on page 31 it lists all motherboards compatible. Just be sure to read the description.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04402649

(eg. AMD A10-5745M (2.9 GHz/2.1 GHz, 4 MB L2, 1333 MHz DDR3L, quad core, 25 W) for use with Windows Standard HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC part no. 763424-501

vs

AMD A10-5745M (2.9 GHz/2.1 GHz, 4 MB L2, 1333 MHz DDR3L, quad core, 25 W) for use with FreeDOS and Ubuntu Linux HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC part no. 766714-001)

The first one is for use with windows and the second is for use with FreeDOS and Ubuntu Linux.

If I'm making some egregious error than please let me know but I don't have a week to wait for a reply from an HP expert. The part surfer link was helpful but that was not what I was asking for. My computer is broken now and I need to be able to use it again ASAP.

Thanks

Sorry. I Googled my pc product number and the actual product name is the  HP 15z-p000 CTO. I don't know if that makes a difference but I just wanted to make sure.

Thank you for that part list! It will definately be very helpful for future reference. I actually was able to find that part no. 766713-501 was the correct piece but from the second forum post that I included the link to I wanted to make sure part no. 763424-501 is compatible with my computer as it has a better CPU and I found it for $50 cheaper.
