Just got off the phone with HP personal sales support, and I want to make sure that what I was told, is actually the case.
In Dec 2022, I bought a laptop with an accidental damage warranty for three years. Earlier this month, the laptop was damaged and HP replaced it promptly with another laptop, which is working fine. FWIW, the replacement laptop is Certified Refurbished, and says so on the label on the bottom of the laptop where you can read the serial number.
I called HP sales today, to purchase another 3 year accidental damage warranty on this one, and I was told that the original warranty is still in effect (through Dec 2025). I was told that HP could not actually sell me another extended warranty until shortly before the current one expires, so I should call them back a few months before it expires. If I could have, I still would have purchased an extension of the warranty today, even if the current one is still good for another 18 months.
I have two questions:
- Is the original three-year warranty that I purchased, still good and still applicable to the replacement laptop?
- Is it true that HP does not sell extensions to current warranties, until shortly before the earlier warranty expires?

This is not a business unit of HP.

As I said in the OP, I had already done that.
I was surprised at the response I got, and was just looking for confirmation of that, from customers of HP who might have come across this policy before.
