My laptop has long had a buzzing sound come from inside the computer. It usually doesn't start till a few minutes after I boot it up, then it persists until I shut it down or put it to sleep. It buzzes in increments of 10 seconds or so, pauses briefly, then repeats. It's not coming from the hard drive (brand new and recently installed) and not from the CD/optical drive at all. Also not related to the fan, because I can hear the fan running separately just fine. The laptop is also not overheating at all as far as I can tell.
From my research it sounds like I might need to update the BIOS. Pulling up system information shows the BIOS was last updated in 2013. Unfortunately, I don't know how to update it. When I look for drivers for my particular model on HP's website, it only lets me select Windows 7 or Windows 8 as OS. I upgraded to Windows 10 when I got my new hard drive.
Any information on either issue would be much appreciated.
