HP ENVY 17-j184na Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have taken the battery out it says on the barcode label quite clearly: REPLACE WITH HP SPARE 710717-001 but this part number isn't recognised on the system and it also has on the label - CT: 6DGAQC5GW6Z20U above the barcode on the battery, which isn't recognised as a part number.... It also says amongst all the writing on it … HP Part number 709989-421(3ICR19/66-2), which is also not recognised whether I use just the bit in front of the brackets or what's in the brackets or if I use the whole lot including the brackets a sign comes up saying: a potentially dangerous input was detected from the client browser?? ....

I've used the HP battery check tool on HP Support Assistant and looked at the advanced information which gave a serial number of 04714 2014/06/26 which if used in full says product number not recognised but if you use just the first part... it brings up details for 2 parts listed as:
Compaq ProSignia Notebook PC 150 ... with 2 numbers beneath
104714-295, 104714-297... now that isn't my type of laptop but in desperation I tried clicking on both these only to be taken to the same page saying product number not recognised. have literally spent hours trying to buy a new battery for my laptop but HP's only contact us options involve having to put the part number in or the options to choose from don't cover my problem and their only form of chat is basically a virtual agent... which is taking me around in circles and suggesting inappropriate articles to read etc....I tried looking on the HP Customer Support - Knowledge Base for the HP ENVY 17-j184na Notebook PC Product Specifications and under Power and it simply says:
120 W AC power adapter  -  This is obviously the AC power lead and unit
6-cell (62 WHr) Li-ion   -   This is obviously the battery but not very informative
It also says on the battery P106 in a box followed by Notebook Battery but when I put that into part number it just brings up a random bunch of unrelated products and on the opposite side of the battery it says: regulatory model number: HSTNN-LB40 which also comes up as unrecognised...??
So I really don't know how to identify this battery so I can check if it still exists to buy somewhere?
I have also tried looking for all parts based on my laptops main serial number and asked for all parts to be listed and it only comes up with 2 power cords with prices and the rest have no prices but I can't identify what is the right part... there are 2 potential candidates the first one came up as:
C8U42AV Part is not orderable, HP Part Resellers may help click here
6 Cell 62 WHr 17
RoHS: COMPLY_2.05
and the second came up as:
FQ107AV Part is not orderable, HP Part Resellers may help click here
6C 47WHR CQ60-10 BATTERY
RoHS: COMPLY_2.03

When I click on the first one's part number... it brings up a list of products that use that part and my Notebook is indeed amongst them but I don't really know if that is the battery, there were some things on there easy enough to identify because it says processor etc but quite a few parts I couldn't identify at all and I just chose the first one above because it said "6 Cell 62 WHR" like it did under the Power section on the specifications and I assumed that meant the battery... but the second one actually says battery however when I click on that part number it says over 200 products use that part so it cannot show me the list (to check that it is the battery for my model) and also when I click on the Part is not orderable, HP Part Resellers may help click here it takes me to a page where there are some UK Dealers but still asks you to find the part number... Why is there literally no help from HP... all the support site threads coming up don't match my question no matter how I put it...am I literally just supposed to call the few, far afield, preferred or registered trading companies listed there for parts in the UK and hope for the best and hope they can identify my battery where HP cannot? Seriously fed up with all this... I just want to buy a new battery... why make it so flipping difficult???

Is there anybody out there that can help me please?

Yes, it uses  6-cell, 62WHr 32.8AH Li-ion battery part # 710417-001. Probably HP won't stock it anymore. Please try

Hi BH,

Thanks for your prompt and informative reply, I was going crazy trying to find out what to do to buy a new one... you are right HP don't have it but the link you sent me on Amazon is fine although that's for the USA Amazon site and they don't ship internationally but I have checked for the same thing on the UK site and although it is a little more expensive, they are available so I can finally buy a battery and not have my laptop die on me if the cable pulls out anymore as the battery is at 4% after full charge.... thank you very much for your help on this BH and have a lovely day😊👍

You are welcome and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

At this stage, people are still discussing we will have fireworks or not. Weather is much better now.
