CHARGER EXPLODED

Hi my charger for my notebook has just exploded., luckily I was in the room, else it would have caused a fire. I have read that this is a common problem with HP chargers (looking at forums and complaints).   Naturally without a charger I cannot start up the laptop and I need this for deadlines.  I am concerned that the laptop has been damaged.  Can someone please resolve this issue for me please as a matter of urgency thanks
