Dear HP Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I am experiencing with my HP computer, which I purchased from the HP Store in October 2024. Despite the computer being only a year old, I have encountered a problem with the CMOS battery, which appears to be defective.
As a regular user rather than a technician, I am uncertain about the cause of this issue but believe it may be related to a faulty battery or other technical malfunction within the motherboard. Given that the computer is still under warranty, I kindly request your assistance in resolving this matter.
Could you please advise on the next steps? I would appreciate any guidance on how to proceed, whether it involves troubleshooting steps I can perform myself or if the computer requires repair or replacement of the CMOS battery.
I look forward to your prompt response and assistance in addressing this issue. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Best regards,

Hi:

This is a peer to peer forum.

We do not work for or represent HP.

If your PC is still under warranty, please contact HP customer service starting at the link below and submit a support case under the warranty.

Since you did not provide any information regarding the model number of the PC you posted, all I can tell you is that notebooks made nowadays have internal batteries and 90% of those do not have CMOS batteries.

Only a handful of the more expensive HP business class notebooks may have separate CMOS batteries.

The main battery also serves as the CMOS battery to maintain the BIOS and system clock settings.

See this link below for how to test and calibrate the main battery:
