My Laptops battery was damaged that's why that was showing that CMOS checksum is invalid. The laptop contained a HT03XL type battery. So I changed the battery with a new one. But even now sometimes(In a day or two when I open the machine for the first time in a day) it throws a CMOS checksum is invalid. Can anyone help out with this problem.

Hi @BluBlaze,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're still encountering the "CMOS checksum is invalid" error after replacing the battery, there could be a few reasons for this.

  • Improper Installation: Ensure that the new battery is properly installed. Sometimes, improper installation can lead to intermittent issues.
  • Faulty Battery: While you replaced the battery, it's possible that the new battery itself is faulty. Try using a different replacement battery to see if the issue persists.
  • Faulty CMOS Battery Connector: The issue might not be with the battery itself but with the connector that connects the battery to the motherboard. Check if the connector is clean and making proper contact.
  • CMOS Battery Holder: Sometimes, the holder for the CMOS battery on the motherboard can be damaged or loose, causing intermittent connection issues. Check if the holder is secure and not damaged.
  • BIOS Update: Updating the BIOS firmware could potentially resolve compatibility issues with the new battery.
  • Motherboard Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there could be a problem with the motherboard itself, such as a damaged CMOS circuit.

Before proceeding with any hardware troubleshooting, ensure you're properly grounded to prevent any static discharge that could damage components.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
