Hi @Nave1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The CMOS 502 error on your HP PC indicates a CMOS battery failure. This battery powers the BIOS firmware in your system, maintaining system time and hardware settings when the computer is powered off.

CMOS 502: The system has detected that the CMOS battery is either drainedmissing, or not functioning properly.

Steps you can try:
1. Reset BIOS Settings

After replacing the battery:

  • Power on the PC and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Load default settings and save changes.
  • Restart the system.

2. Update BIOS (Optional but Recommended)

  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your product model and download the latest BIOS update.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions carefully.

3. Replace the CMOS Battery

  • Most HP laptops and desktops use a CR2032 coin-cell battery.
  • You can replace it with:
    • Powering off the PC and unplugging it.
    • Opening the back panel (for laptops) or the side panel (for desktops).
    • Locating the CMOS battery on the motherboard.
    • Removing and replacing it with a new CR2032 battery.

⚠️ If your device is under warranty, you have to contact HP Support before opening the device.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
