Unfortunately I do not see a support portal w/driver and software for your HP Compaq CQ61-225EE notebook.

I can ask internally.

Perhaps another HP Expert will comment in to this thread and provide links to a BIOS for you.

An HP Driver Expert supplied me with a link for the following BIOS files.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-15-n200-notebook-pc-series/6529948/mode...

If they are not the correct files, the BIOS update will  perform a platform check.
If your notebook is not listed  as compatible in the platform check, the flash will not happen, so there will no possibility of any harm in trying the ROM files.

Here is another BIOS ROM file that comes from the same BIOS family as your Compaq  Notebook. That makes it definitely compatible.  It is also worth trying.

You haven't provided the installed OS  and version.
Can you do that now?

Kindly let me know how it works out with the ROM files I gave you the links for.

Back when your Compaq Presario was made was before UEFI came to be the norm with BIOS.

Rescuing a UEFI BIOS is safe and pretty simple compared to the older MBR BIOS.

Updating the older MBR BIOS  and trying to rescue a BIOS was risky and still is a risk you will have to accept.

I used to put a BIOS .bin and  matching .sig file on the root of a USB flashdrive, plug it in and then turn on the notebook or PC and waited for the PC to respond.
If it works, you will see a message on the screen  that says it is updating the BIOS.

Rescue  either works or not, unfortunately.  Bricking the PC is the risk that pre UEFI PC/laptops come with in regards to updating or rescuing the BIOS.

If those files do not help, I do have access to more resources internally at HP.
