I have a old "HP Pavilion G6 1201tx" laptop with me. I want to restore it and use it a potential linux / android OS machine. The problem is that it has a slow i5-2430M and the integrated "Intel HD 3000" in it also are somewhat faulty. I want to upgrade the CPU of this laptop but I have no idea what the compatible CPU's are.
Socket - rPGA 989
Any help and upgrade option suggestions would be really appreciated!
Thanks

OK, I found a different service manual for the g6-1200 model series, and you can upgrade to the Intel® Core™ i7-2620M processor.

According to chapter 1 of the service manual the best processor you can install would be the Intel Core i5-2450M processor.
The performance improvement would be negligible.
If you haven't replaced the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD, that will be a whole lot better than upgrading the processor.

I gave you the correct service manual for your notebook.
The G6-2000 model series supports the Intel 2nd and 3rd generation core processors.
This is the service manual for the g6-2000 model series:
Your notebook does not support any Intel 3rd gen core processors.
