You're very welcome.
Yes, the slot was defective the day you got the PC, but unfortunately, you didn't know it until recently.
No fix, other than to replace the motherboard.
I guess you can examine the slot for any defects such as bent or dirty contacts, but I think it is no good.

Hi:
It depends on what chipset your notebook has.
Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below and the summary window will show you the chipset your notebook has.
If it is the GM45 or PM45, you can upgrade to the P8700 according to chapter 1 of the service manual below.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01740724.pdf
If it has the GL40, the best you can do would be the T6600.
None of the processors you mentioned in your post are supported according to the manual, so installing one of them would be a complete gamble on your part.

Thanks for fast reply
My chipset is PM 45
The best thing i can do is to change it with T800?
I want also to update the BIOS ,but i need a link or something...I-ve made a RAM upgrade and it seems the second ram slot (which was never used) is not recognized by motherboard.I thought if i will update the BIOS would help with the new CPU upgrade and maybe will identify the second RAM stick (sticks are the same and perfect seated)

You're very welcome.
According to the manual, you can go to the P8700.
Here is are the info and exe links to the last BIOS update HP released for your model notebook.
Info file: F.23 January 14, 2011.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp51501-52000/sp51527.html
Exe Flie:

I doubt the BIOS update will do anything to fix the memory issue.
You most likely have a bad memory slot.
You can easily test the slot by removing all memory and just installing the one stick in the slot that was empty at the time.

thx for the link
*Bios. I - ve done already what you told me ,but computer doesn-t boot with RAM only in the second ( unused) I get black screen and it freezes like that.
How can it be a bad slot since it was never used?maybe a factory issue?it-s a fixable issue?
