HP Compaq Presario CQ41-207TU

hello,

i just got HP Compaq Presario CQ 41-207TU with intel core i3 350M and 6 GB RAM inside. is it possible to Upgrade the CPU to i7 640M ?

and i think the BIOS version still stock version

Hi:

 

Chapter 1 of the service manual only shows two supported processors.

 

581860-001.book (hp.com)

 

Theoretically, it may be possible to install an i7-Arrandale dual core processor, not a quad core.

 

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the two processors:

 

Intel® Product Specification Comparison

 

It doesn't look like any of the available BIOS updates added support for new processors--look under the Revision History section, so updating the BIOS would probably be optional, and as you can see the update was written to be run using Windows 7.
