Microsoft Windows 11

Hello!

Looking to see if I can update my Core i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz to a faster (at least 3.5 GHz) CPU and upgrade my RAM from 16GB to 32GB or 64GB.  Not finding easily obvious guidance from the HP Assistant.

Thanks!

K-A

Hi:

Notebook processors have been integral parts of the motherboard for many years now, so the processor cannot be upgraded without replacing the motherboard.

The costs attendant to doing such an upgrade would come close to or maybe even cost more than buying a new notebook with a better processor.

HP only has the service manual for the older model series on your notebook's support page.

HP ENVY x360 - 15t-dr100 CTO Manuals | HP® Customer Support

Chapter 1 of that manual indicates the max memory is 2 x 8 GB.

You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can actually support.

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

The Crucial memory report for your notebook's model series indicates you can install up to 2 x 32 GB of memory.
