The fan is causing over heating and needs to be replaced. Since I would already be opening up and exposing the CPU I figured it might be a good time to upgrade the CPU if possible. Would be nice to have something more powerful than this amd a4 dual core

Thank you the links were very helpful, I see a10 5750m is the highest I can go, I also ran a hardware test from bios which gave me a hard Disk short DST failure, and when I try to do memory test the computer restarts before completing the test. I read up the hard drive might be going bad?

Yes that seems to be the case. So you need a processor and a hard drive and maybe memory, too.

Hi @Shector2416,

Thanks for your response and your awesome post. I'm glad that the links were helpful. Obviously, there seem to be several components that may be broken on the machine. You've been simply superb to work with. As some said once "Don't be penny wise and pound foolish".  It was fabulous on your part to run the complete system diagnostics and come up with the results. If the HDD and memory are to be replaced along with the processor , user your discretion judiciously before doing that. The cost of doing that could be the cost of buying a new computer with a brand new year's warranty on it. That is my personal opinion. We definitely value your relationship with HP and thank you for greatly for doing business with HP. I have done a lot of research to ensure that I provide you with accurate information.
