DV7-2225SF
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have a HP DV7-2225SF, which i've had for many years and even to this day did everything that i wanted from it very well.

It recently failed to start, and having taken it to a repair shop, have been told the CPU has died, and its not worth repairing.

Having looked online, replacement CPU's seem pretty cheap, so i'm going to try and replace the CPU  to see if i can bring it back to life, i've upgraded a lot of the components previously, so have some idea what's involved, but cant find a definite answer on which CPU's are compatible with the motherboard and bios

the motherboard HP part number is 578130-001 (chipset PM45)

current processor is a T4300

I've read in a lot of place's that CPU's can be swapped over as long as they are Socket P fitting, and the same FSB (800mhz in this case), so believe the Core Duo T9500 should be a straight swap as long as there is nothing to prevent it from working in the BIOS. Also if anyone can advise if the Core 2 Extreme X9000 would work also that would be really useful. I just feel for the same a lttle extra money, i may as well upgrade the CPU whilst going to the effort. (if possible)

Many thanks in advance.

Hi:

Your notebook's chipset can run processors with a 1066 MHz FSB.

According to the service manual, the best you can do is the T9600.
