hp pavilion dv6-2010sa
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi, my Hp pavilion dv6 2010sa has 4GB RAM but is struggling to play HD videos bigger than 720p (youtube, vimeo)

MOTHERBOARD: Hewlett-Packard 3635

CPU: 2.1GHz Amd Athlon II Dual-core M320

VGA: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 (RS880M)

Looking to upgrade CPU and SSD too. I could not find any datasheet about the strongest CPU that the motherboard can take. Google search came back with no result.

Thanks for help!

Welcome to HP Forums,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I see you need help in upgrading the RAM, on HP Pavilion dv6-2010sa Notebook PC. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 3072 MB (1 x 1024 MB + 1 x 2048 MB)installed on the PC.  Memory Max Up to 8 GB ( Upgrading CPU is not recommended)

Next thing, I would suggest here is to go through the Memory Modules User Guide

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi, thanks for the reply but my original question is about upgrading the CPU, not the memory modules. I upgraded the memory to 4GB (2x 2GB modules, hynix PC2 6400S 666 12) long time ago.

Thank you for posting back.

The following link shows its specs:

HP Pavilion dv6-2010sa Notebook PC - Product Specifications

Here is some information on this processor

Microprocessor

2.1 GHz AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor for Notebook PCs M320.

Note: On this unit can't upgrade the CPU because those BGA of processors normally is soldered to the motherboard.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I found a laptop, sold to someone else on Ebay, upgraded to AMD Turion II 2.5GHz:

No. The link I provided above prove you wrong (sorry, didn't mean to be harsh). I still don't know if AMD Turion II 2.5GHz is the strongest CPU that this laptop takes.
