HP Elitebook 8540p

Hello, I have an HP EliteBook 8540p with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz. Unfortunately, this CPU doesn't support AVX.

Because of certain software, I want to upgrade to a CPU that supports AVX and is compatible with the other hardware. Can anyone help me determine which CPU models would be suitable?

I've already found a question here about upgrading the CPU for this notebook, but it doesn't mention AVX support. Thank you in advance.

Hi:

None of the Intel 1st generation core processors supported in the model series support AVX.

How to Check If Your CPU Supports AVX or AVX2 Instructions 2025

The Arrandale processor family which is the only series supported in the model series is not listed there.

Looks like Intel 2nd gen (Sandy Bridge and newer) processors support AVX.

That's a shame, but thank you anyway.
