Hi,
Iam currently using a CQ57-366SA and the current cpu is an i3 370M which i am after upgrading.
I have looked at the Maintenance and Service Guide and it mentions the Intel Core i5-2430M
Would this cpu work?
My motherboard part number is 646175-001 if that makes it easier. 🙂
Thanks.

In that case it will not be compatible, since the CPU is not compatible with older chipset:

Hi,
Are you sure that the part number of your motherboard is 646175-001 ? If we look in service manual on page 71 for your model the part number for your motherboard which came with 2.4 GHz Intel Core i3-370M should be 646177-001
Anyway the Intel Core i5-2430M 2.40-GHz processor will work in your system.
Remember to replace the thermal pads and thermal paste between heatsink and chips with quality products.
Hope it helps,
David

Yes the number i took for the motherboard was near the ram slots, so the i5-2430M will definatley work with 646175-001?
The reason i was asking was CPUZ says the chipset is HM55 and didnt know if that was compatible with the 2430m.
