Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought motherboard with GM45 chipset and i cant put qx9300 extreme 1066 MHZ FSB cpu.

GM45 i think can support qx9300 1066 MHZ FSB but when i start laptop all i got is black screen.

Is this BIOS problem or is it RAM problem (DDR2 800 MHZ)?

I don't think the QX9300 is supported.

Probably the BIOS does not have the microcode for that PC.

The reason I think the T9900 might work is because this HP business class notebook has the same chipset, and you can see the list of supported processors that include the P8700 and T9900.

I can't guarantee it will work.  Your notebook's service manual does not list it as a supported processor.

I happen to have the 6930p notebook and it uses DDR2-6400 memory, and the processor (P8700) has a 1066 MHz FSB.

So, I don't think that it is the 800 MHz memory that is causing the problem.

Do you have the latest BIOS update installed?

The latest BIOS update that I could find is F.23.

In order to update the BIOS, you will need to have Windows Vista or Windows 7 installed.

There would be nothing else I can think of that you would need to do.

Processor installation should be plug and play.

Hi:

According to the info I can find, your notebook has the Intel GL40 chipset which means you are limited to installing Pentium processors with a max FSB of 800 MHz.

Reinstall the original processor and run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below and it will report the chipset your notebook comes with.

If the above link is correct, you would be limited to the 800 MHz FSB processors listed in chapter 1 of the service manual at the link below--the T6600 would be the best one, unless you want to go with an older processor, the T9500 which also has an 800 MHz FSB that is not listed in the manual.

If you installed a GM45 chipset motherboard that did not come with your notebook, then the only suggestion I can offer would be to stick with the P8700 listed in the service manual, or you can experiment with the T9900 dual core.

Yeah, I installed a GM45 chipset motherboard, then i just think...does the ram speed have to be the same speed as the cpu's FSB, that means right now RAM speed is 800 Mhz cpu 1066 FSB, but i need RAM speed 1066 Mhz minimal?

Can T9900 work just fine without any issue?

You say i can experiment with T9900 do i need do something about BIOS or just plug and play?
