Hi, I have gleaned a GWA-4080n DVD drive from an old Pavilion laptop and want to use it as a USB external drive for another laptop. I'm trying to determine the correct cable I can use to do this. I believe it's a slim SATA to USB, but the ones I've seen seem to have a different connector. If anyone can help, that would be great. Thanks.

Its specs
It uses ATAPI IDE interface not SATA. The following manual may help
https://sgcdn.startech.com/005329/media/sets/USB2SATAIDE_Manual/USB2SATAIDE_usermanual.pdf
For experimental purpose you can try but practically you can buy an external USB optical drive for 15 dollars or less.
Regards.

Hi,
Many thanks for the info! I'm keen on recycling and hate throwing away anything that can be reused especially if in good condition. I couldn't find much info on the drive anyway, so I'll look at buying an external drive.
Thanks
John.
