HP ENVY x360 - m6-w103dx (ENERGY STAR)

Hello!

Hp Envy m6-w103dx battery replacement.

Cannot get new HP battery calibrated to win 10 os. No calibration process in UEFI(updated) & I attempted some dozen times to "manually" calibrate through discharge/recharge to no avail. I also have an HP Pavilion with the same exact issue. I've gone through two third party comp batts & one HP batt, no way all three are bad. From all symptoms it's totally calibration but without a calibration process or a manual process that works????

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi @LittleTwinn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating when you're facing battery calibration issues on your HP Envy m6-w103dx and HP Pavilion laptops. Here are some steps you can try to address the problem.

Update BIOS/UEFI: Ensure that your laptop's BIOS/UEFI is up to date. Sometimes, HP releases updates that can address battery-related issues.

Reset Power Management:

  • Right-click on the battery icon in the system tray.
  • Select "Power Options."
  • Click on "Change plan settings" for your current power plan.
  • Choose "Change advanced power settings."
  • Under the "Battery" category, make sure that the settings are optimized for your needs.

Calibrate Manually:

  • Charge your laptop to 100%.
  • Disconnect the charger and let the battery discharge to around 5-10%.
  • Reconnect the charger and allow the battery to charge back to 100% without interruptions.
  • This process may take several hours.

Battery Report:

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  • Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
  • This generates a battery report (usually in the C:\Windows\System32 directory) that provides detailed information about your battery's health and usage patterns.

HP Support Assistant:

  • Download and install the HP Support Assistant if you don't have it already.
  • Run the battery check tool within the Support Assistant for diagnostic information.

Battery Driver Update:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Under "Batteries," right-click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and choose "Update driver."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.

HP Diagnostics:

  • Some HP laptops come with built-in diagnostics tools.
  • Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually ESC, F2, or F12) during boot to access the diagnostics menu.
  • Run the battery test if available.

Remember to backup your important data before performing any major updates or diagnostics.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
