Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

I had to replace the battery in my HP Envy. It wouldn't charge and had swollen considerably. I could not find an HP battery to replace it, so I assume they are not making them anymore. (My Envy is about 5 years old). I bought a replacement battery but it keeps telling me that it needs to be calibrated. I've tried unplugging the computer and allowing the battery to drain completely, and then plugging it back in to recharge fully. (This is the solution I've found in this community). That solution hasn't worked for me, so my question is, "Can I go into my Device Manager and uninstall the battery and then reinstall it? Will that re-calibrate it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Try installing the latest UEFI diagnostics and then run the battery test.

HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically.
When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics.
There is an updated diagnostics package here
https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/hp-pc-hardware-diagnostics
Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS',
Expand the'+'symbol and click the DOWNLOAD button.
The version of the UEFI diagnostics is shown at the left of that DOWNLOAD button.
When you press F2 to run diagnostics please ensure the version is the new one.

After running the battery test, get a battery report and try another calibration if needed.

Please run the battery report and post the summery if you want
you run the battery report by bringing up the administrator command window and running

powercfg/batteryreport

as shown below

After entering that explorer line you should see something like the following. You will have to click on it as it is long
http://stateson.net/docs/SP4_battery-report.html
You can use the WindowsKey + shift + S to copy and paste a small image if you want.
Battery should last about 5 years but less for gaming systems.

Have you done a battery calibration?

I am glad you got it working.  Can you answer a question or two?

Did you install that latest UEFI?

Did the latest UEFI have a battery test in it?

Some other users have a problem with the battery and I was wondering if the UEFI diagnostics really helped or if it was just the calibration tool.

Thank you!
