I have checked all of the Camera settings, and they look ok - however. my camera does not appear in Device Manager so I can't download/update a driver. Windows Update does not off a driver (I assume because the device is not found). I need help!

Hi @Nev_B2025,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your camera is not appearing in Device Manager and you're unable to locate or update a driver via Windows Update, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

Check Physical Connections:

  • Ensure that the camera is properly connected, if it's an external device. For internal cameras on laptops, ensure nothing is obstructing the camera.

Enable Camera in BIOS:

  • For integrated cameras, check your computer's BIOS settings to ensure the camera is enabled. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Del during startup), then look for camera options within the BIOS settings.

Scan for Hardware Changes:

  • Open Device Manager, click on "Action", and select "Scan for hardware changes". This might detect and reinstall the camera.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot and select "Camera" from the list to run the troubleshooter.

Check Privacy Settings:

  • Ensure that your camera is enabled in settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and make sure apps are allowed to use the camera.

Download Drivers from HP Support:

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • Utilize the HP Support Assistant available on your computer to automatically find and update drivers.

Reset Camera App:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find the Camera app, and choose "Advanced options". From there, you can select "Reset".

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your Windows is fully up to date as some updates may include necessary drivers.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
