HP Pavilion 15-n267ca TouchSmart Notebook PC

I have recently installed Windows 10 on an HP Pavilion 15-n267ca and I noticed that the microphone and camera are not working. The camera does not even have a driver that appears in Device Manager, and when I tried using the Windows camera app I got an 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached> error code, but there is a driver for the microphone. Here is a picture of what appears in Device Manager:

I have tried using the Get Help app and followed the instructions but none of them worked, and I have tried testing the microphone in Settings under System > Sound but it doesn't pick up any sound. The microphone I plugged into the computer might be faulty as I tested it on another computer  and it didn't work either, but I believe that this Pavilion 15-n267ca should have an internal microphone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @JI_the1st,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for providing the screenshot — from what I can see in Device Manager, the integrated camera does not appear to be detected at all, and the microphone is showing as a basic "High Definition Audio Device," which may not be specific to the built-in mic.

Here's how we can approach fixing this on your HP Pavilion 15-n267ca after a fresh install of Windows 10:

Step 1: Check for Hidden Devices

  1. In Device Manager, click View > Show hidden devices.
  2. Expand Imaging devices, Cameras, or Sound, video and game controllers to check if the camera appears.

If it still doesn't show up:

Step 2: Install HP OEM Drivers

Since Windows didn't auto-detect the camera, it's likely that the driver isn’t included in the default Windows 10 image.

👉 HP Pavilion 15-n267ca Drivers Page: Official HP® Support

  • Download and install the HP Software Framework and HP Universal Camera Driver (if available).
  • Also, install the Chipset and Intel MEI drivers.

💡 Sometimes the webcam is connected via the Intel chipset, and without chipset or MEI drivers, it may not even show up.

Step 3: Check BIOS Settings

  1. Restart your laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS setup.
  2. Look for any setting that disables the webcam or integrated devices and ensure they are enabled.
  3. Save and exit BIOS.

These steps are for the  Webcam. Please try, and let me know if this helps or not. For the microphone, it’s still pending Let's run the first test and keep me posted

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I opened Device Manager and clicked on View Hidden Devices but the camera driver did not appear. I checked under Sound, video and game controllers but there was no camera driver there either. Here is another screenshot of Device Manager with View Hidden Devices clicked:

I also clicked on the link to HP's support page for software and drivers that you provided and selected the Pavilion 15-n267ca but the website says there are no drivers or software available. Here is a screenshot of the webpage:

I also restarted the computer and entered the BIOS but there were no options for enabling/disabling the webcam or integrated devices. Are there any other options for me to try?

@JI_the1st, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you so much for posting your query! My colleague @VikramTheGreat is currently out, but don't worry – I’ll be taking over and making sure we get this sorted for you.

I’m here to help, and together, we’ll work through this!

Thanks for the detailed screenshots and background — you've done a great job narrowing things down.

Webcam Not Detected—No Entry in Device Manager

This is often due to missing chipset-related drivers or low-level device detection failure.

Manually Scan for Hardware Changes:

In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.

If nothing shows up, try

From Device Manager, go to View > Devices by connection. Look under the ACPI and PCI Express Root Complex branches — sometimes the camera shows up as “Unknown Device.”

Use HP Support Assistant

Download HP Support Assistant: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

Install it and restart.

Open it → Click your device → Click Check for updates and messages → Install all updates.

I truly hope these steps help get things back on track. If you have any questions or need any further clarification, just let me know – I’m happy to guide you through it and make sure everything works perfectly.

Take care, and I hope you have an amazing day ahead! 😊

Hi @Garp_senchau

I tried checking Device Manager again and scanning for hardware changes as well as looking under View > devices by connection but the camera driver still wasn't there. I also installed HP Support Assistant and installed all updates but the camera driver is still not present. The only drivers that were installed through the update was the LAN driver and the PCI SD card reader
