HP ProBook 440 14 inch G9 Notebook PC (4D7R3AV)

The in-built laptop/notebook camera was apparently not working on my HP [ProBook 440 G9], with a blackened screen area displayed instead of a camera image when I tried to use Zoom videoconferencing or Signal Private Messenger video calls.

I tried to update or uninstall the camera driver, from the laptop's Device Manager, without this fixing the problem. I tried turning off the Windows Firewall, which did not help. Eventually when inspecting the camera closely, I realised that there seemed to be a shutter across the lens, with several diagonally-slanted lines appearing across what would otherwise have been a colourless transparent lens. Immediately above the camera lens (facing in the same direction as the laptop screen), I discovered a sliding button that opened the shutter!

This was amazing to me, that this camera shutter feature was not highlighted in product information or instruction manual documentation, since it seems many people would not know about such a camera shutter. Judging from the number of people on these HP forums having similar issues and questions, it would seem useful and helpful for HP to provide instructions about this or make this issue more easily searchable online, to fix the issue for customers.

Does anyone know how to go about making this happen, or escalating the issue?
