Hello, I have the same camera problem as many.
Mine was working when I had windows 8 but when I transferred to windows 10 I don't remember that it worked at all.
I am not a big camera user but with the current circumstances, I need to use the laptop camera. So please help me solve this problem.
Again my computer is HP Envy DV6 laptop.
let me know if you need other information.
I have updated BIOS and tried everything with disabling the antivirus and tried to download YouCam.
Another thing is that I don't find any drivers for camera in device manager at all even in hidden devices.
What is the reason for that?
There is no kill switch for the camera I think because I didn't find it.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help
I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

The HP DV6 is an older Model and there doesn't seem to be any Webcam driver available for Windows 10.
You might have to revert back to the original OS

Did you run the HP Support Assistant to check for latest drivers?
I suggest you run a Webcam Test and if all the Test pass perform a Reset
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Webcam

Hi, I saw your post about your HP Envy dv6 camera not working, I am having the same issue. It worked fine, I haven't done any updates and suddenly it stopped working. I went to device manager and found my device when I enabled show hidden devices, but it's grayed out, I updated the driver, and I can't roll back the driver. What did you do that made yours work? Thank you
