I have an HP Victus, version 23H2, and whenever I open the camera app, it only shows a gray screen, but my camera lights up indicating that it's working on the other app also it is not working and it is showing not accessible. On camera app it is showing error code 0xA00F4292 PhotoCaptureStartTimeout.

Hi @Sujal1947,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0xA00F4292 (PhotoCaptureStartTimeout) suggests that your camera is either not initializing properly or is being blocked by a software issue. Try these steps to fix it.
Check Camera Privacy Settings
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera
- Make sure Camera access is enabled.
- Ensure that Let apps access your camera is turned on.
- Scroll down and check that the Camera is allowed for the apps you want to use.
Restart Windows Camera Service
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Find Windows Camera Frame Server, right-click it, and select Restart.
Update/Reinstall Camera Drivers
- Press Win + X > Device Manager.
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- Right-click on your camera and choose Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
- If updating doesn’t work, right-click on the camera and choose Uninstall device, then restart your laptop to let Windows reinstall it.
Try a Different App
- Open Zoom, Teams, or Skype and check if the camera works there.
- If it works in other apps but not the Camera app, reset the Camera app:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Camera
- Click Advanced options > Reset
Run the Camera Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Scroll down and run the Camera troubleshooter.
Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates
- Install any pending updates and restart your laptop.

BIOS/UEFI Check
- Restart your laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI (usually F2, F10, or Esc during boot).
- Look for an option related to the integrated camera and make sure it's enabled.
Check for HP-Specific Software
- Open HP Support Assistant and check for any driver updates.
- If your laptop has OMEN Gaming Hub or HP Command Center, check if there’s an option to enable/disable the camera.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
