@nscvp, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

The error message “0xA00F4244 ” on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV) running Windows 11 typically means that Windows cannot detect the built-in camera. Here's a step-by-step guide to resolve this issue:

Check for a Physical Camera Switch or Keyboard Shortcut

Some HP laptops have a physical camera kill switch or a keyboard shortcut (like F8 or F10) to disable the webcam.

  • Look for a slider near the webcam or a camera icon key on the keyboard.
  • If present, toggle the switch or press the key (often with Fn) to enable the camera.

Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Imaging Devices, Cameras, or Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Look for your camera (e.g., HP TrueVision HD Camera).
    • If it's not listed, click View > Show hidden devices.
    • If it appears with a yellow triangle, right-click and choose Update driver or Uninstall device, then restart.

Reinstall the Camera Driver

  1. Visit the official HP support page for your model: Official HP® Support
  2. Download and install the latest camera driver (if available).
  3. If no specific camera driver is listed, Windows uses a generic UVC driver. You can try:
    • In Device Manager, right-click the camera > Update driver > Search automatically.
    • Or uninstall and restart to let Windows reinstall it.

Check Camera Privacy Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
  2. Ensure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are turned ON.
  3. Scroll down and make sure the app you're using (e.g., Camera, Zoom, Teams) has permission.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Use HP’s built-in tool to test the camera:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  3. Select Component Tests > Webcam and run the test.

BIOS Update (if applicable)

Sometimes, a BIOS update can restore hardware functionality:

Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  2. Run the Camera troubleshooter.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, the camera module might be disconnected internally or faulty, especially if it’s not detected in Device Manager or UEFI diagnostics. In that case, service may be required Please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.

Thank you for the detailed method to solve my issue.

  1. No camera switch there
  2. Checked DeviceManager, no hidden devices or any yellow icon.
  3. Ran HP diagnostics. The error I received: "No Camera found."
  4. Bios is up to date.

It seems that the laptop needs to be opened to connect the camera internally.
