Hi @Wobnor,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that the camera on your HP ENVY 17-da0002na is not working and that HP Hardware Diagnostics is reporting a possible hardware problem.

Since the diagnostic test is already indicating a potential hardware issue, let's confirm the camera connection and diagnostic result before considering service.

Check the camera privacy controls.

Check the top of the display for a physical camera privacy shutter and make sure it is open.

If your notebook has a camera privacy key, make sure the camera is enabled.

Open the Windows Camera app and check whether the camera works.

Run the HP Webcam Connection Test.

The UEFI diagnostic test checks the webcam independently of Windows, which helps determine whether the problem is hardware-related.

Restart the notebook.

Immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.

Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.

Select Component Tests > Webcam Connection.

Run the test and note the result.

For more information, see HP PCs – Testing for hardware failures.

If the webcam test fails

If the webcam connection test fails, HP Diagnostics should provide a 24-digit failure ID. Please provide that failure ID along with the full product number of the notebook.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi

Thank you. I have run the component test and one of the integrated cameras, HP 5MP, has failed the test. But I cannot see a 24 digit failure ID.  There is much longer Test ID number, and an error code of fff. The product number of laptop is HP 17-daOOO2na.
