Product: HP EliteBook 8540p
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
So I'm thinking to upgrade my HP EliteBook 8540p RAM to a 8GB. I wanted to know if a socket (there is only 2) can hold up 8GB RAM Model by itself. The processor is a Intel Core i5vPro M520 with a NVIDIA NVS 5100M. Thank you.

Hi:
The only time an 8 GB memory chip has any chance of working in a single slot is if the notebook has an Intel 1st gen quad core processor such as the i7-840QM.
Your notebook's i5-520M dual core processor will only support a max of 2 x 4 GB of memory.
