Envy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm looking at different options to upgrade my laptop's RAM. After speaking to a few retailers, I was told to check with HP for RAM compatibility because some HP products have third party RAM blocked in the BIOS.

Is this true for the Envy x360 (model series 15m-bq0xx)? The service manual mentions that models in the series support "DDR4-2400 dual channel support (DDR4-2666 downgrade to DDR4-2400)" and up to 16 GB (8 GB x2) of RAM.

What you were told is not true about memory modules. Listen to PC repair shops, not retailers.

The days of upgrade products being blacklisted in the BIOS was pre 2012

As long as it is compatible it will work. If you are going to install it yourself just make certain that the online vendor guarantees compatibility,
