Pavilion 17-by2000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Someone must remove the bottom of the laptop and replace the internal flat battery. The battery cannot be
replaced externally by the user (like in the old days).

I'm thinking about purchasing another HP 17-by2000 (28P03UA#ABA) and I want to determine how this
laptop's battery can be replaced?

Is there some HP or other website that shows which HP laptop series' batteries can be replaced externally?

@RBowman88

Talking about good old days. Two days ago, I replace wifi adapter on one of my machines I don't believe that I only need to remove ONE (yes 01) screw to be able to open the whole back. I replaced its HDD/SSD few times and for 2.5" HDD/SSD,  I only need to remove 2 screws, no need to open its back.

Back to your question, the answer is you need to remove few items including the ODD to be able access to battery.

Regards.

I appreciate your story.

However, my tools collection is very limited and my technical skill level even more so, I really need to know how the 17-by2000 series notebook batteries are replaced?   Spring a latch and out pops the old battery    OR    get someone with technical skills and TOOLS to open the bottom of the case and remove the old battery ?   Thanks,
