Hi:

The 2666 MHz memory will downclock to 2400 MHz, because that is the fastest the processor can run the memory at.

So there would be no advantage to installing the 2666 memory module, unless you intended to transfer it to a newer model PC in the future that could run the memory at 2666 MHz.

It is usually best to install memory that has the same specs if you plan on keeping the 4 GB memory chip installed.

I would suggest you install 2 x 8 GB as soon as possible so the memory runs in DDR mode.  It will not run in DDR mode with an 8 GB + 4 GB chip.

If you go with the 2 x 8 GB chips, then you may as well buy the 2666 MHz memory.

You're very welcome.

That is correct.  The 2666 MHz memory will downclock to 2400 MHz.

Here is the link to the Intel specs for your notebook's processor which shows the supported memory speed.

The processor will run the memory at a max of 2400 Mhz.

ok now i've come to understanding about how to choose suitable ram speed. It actualy should refer to the capacity of Cpu processor. Btw thank again for the link. :LaughingTears:

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

That is correct.

No intel processor can run memory any faster than the processor's FSB specification.
