Hello everyone! Can I upgrade the Intel Pentium N3700 to Core i5 on my HP 14-ac011tu? If yes, what core i5 version and generation can I upgrade it to? Also, do I need (if I can) to change the motherboard? Thank you

Hi:
The processor is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded without replacing the motherboard with one listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual that may come with a better processor.

It would be a very costly and difficult project if you could even locate the motherboard you want.
You also need to make sure you get one that has a Windows product key in the BIOS or you will need to purchase a new Windows license.
You may also need additional parts such as a heatsink and a fan.
Most HP notebooks from that era that have Pentium processors do not have fans.
All in all, it would be a very bad investment considering the costs and labor involved.
