15-dw0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

Laptop I just purchased is a 15-dw0021cl (15-dw0xxx) and has a 256GB M.2 drive, with 8GB RAM, Core I5 8th generation processor.  Would like to add an internal HDD (SSD), while leaving the M.2 drive alone.  PC is Windows 10 in S mode.  Can this be done, and would I need to order a bracket and cable to make this happen?  Did see another machine at the store that had identical case with an internal mechanical HDD, so it should be doable (i.e. there should be space).  p.s. There is no optical drive in my machine.  Any help on this would be great, thanks!

There is a space inside for a 2.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD. Here is the Service manual:

Manual

(2) Hard drive bracket not spared
(3) Hard drive cable L52025-001

So the mounting bracket is not sold as a spare part. That is not a deal-breaker as you can find generic rubber rails that will work, particularly if you use an SSD that has no moving parts so that locking it down is not as necessary.

HP Parts Store does not stock the cable:

Thanks for the response.  Based on the manual diagram, and review of your suggested parts on Amazon, the cable portion of the suggested part looks too short.  The suggested part's cable appears to come off the longest side of the HDD board (L52024-001), as opposed to the inboard side of the HDD board.  Please advise if there is an alternative cable (L52025-001).  Thanks!
