The 8D35 baseboard appears to have a 2nd location for an M.2 SSD but there only appears to be a contact array on the board and no socket. How do install a 2nd SSD?

Hi,

I understand you want to add a second M.2 SSD to your HP OmniDesk Desktop AI, but the baseboard (8D35) only shows a contact array without a full M.2 socket. Let’s go through a few important points.

Check motherboard support
– Not all contact arrays on the board are functional for a second SSD. Some are placeholders for future models or different configurations.
– Refer to the HP OmniDesk manual or specifications to confirm if a second M.2 slot is officially supported.

Look for the M.2 mounting hardware
– Even if the contacts exist, the slot may require a standoff or screw for the SSD to be secured.
– If no socket or mounting points exist, it’s likely the second M.2 isn’t usable on your model.

Consider alternative storage options
– Use a standard 2.5" SATA SSD or 3.5" HDD in the available drive bays.
– Some systems support NVMe SSDs via PCIe adapter cards if you need high-speed storage.

Avoid forcing installation
– Trying to install an SSD without a proper socket can damage the motherboard and void warranty.

I hope this helps.
