I have an HP 250 G5 laptop running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, with a factory-fitted 256Gb SSD internal drive and 8Gb memory.
I would like to add a 1Tb SSD internal drive to this set-up, but I noticed when browsing possible contenders for this upgrade, that the existing 256Gb drive has a different form factor from the 2.5 inch format of the 1Tb drives I have seen so far.
Please would anyone who knows anything about this advise me if it is possible to do this, and if so, would it require anything more than choosing a suitable 2.5 inch SSD drive and inserting it in an internal drive connecter, if that exists? I haven't yet taken the step of opening up the laptop to see what's inside.
Thanks in advance,

Hi:
Most likely you will need the additional parts to install a 2.5" SSD as they are normally not included then the PC only comes with a M.2 SATA SSD.
Before trying to find the parts you need, I recommend that you open up the notebook and see if the parts to add one are there.
It would be a lot easier for your to just replace the M.2 SSD with one having a greater storage capacity.
Your notebook only supports SATA M.2 SSD's not NVMe so if you decide to go that route, buy a SATA M.2 SSD such as a Western Digital Blue SA510 1 TB model.
Below is the link to the service manual.
Chapter 3, page 41 has the list of parts needed to add a 2.5" SSD.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what ETB and non-ETB means.
