My machine specs state it has one SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge) port but so far I haven't been able to get it to charge that way.  I'm setting up a docking station and want to know if there is a specific cable or PSU that I would need to enable this?

USB Power Delivery generally means the port can accept a charge. However, reviewing the service manual

Manual

(see p. 6) it does not say the port can accept charging and the power supply provided with your laptop from the factory is a 200w barrel type adapter. In most cases if the laptop can be charged by USB-C that is the adapter HP ships with it. What have you used to try to charge the laptop?

Thanks for the swift response.  I've used a Dell powered docking station and a couple of USB cables - but after a bit of research into USB-C today I realise now they may not have been "Full-feature" cables.  The powered docking station powers my other HP Probook, which also comes with a barrel type PSU; hence the query.

Yeah the observation that HP will give you a USB-C adapter if it can be used is not hard and fast and seems to apply less the higher wattage required. The only way to know for sure is to connect a USB-C power adapter of 200w to see if it charges. My guess is it will not as the info in the Service Manual is generally more accurate than the info in the specs. It is odd that your USB-C port does include a native displayport video output and its unusual to have that and not also the ability to charge and power the laptop, however.
