hp pavillion 360 14ba055
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi Guys,

I am trying to upgrade my hp pavillion 360 14ba055 from an 128GB SSD M.2 memory to 1TB SSD M.2 memory so I can fit all my useful data in. Can this laptop recognise this SSD? older laptops could work with HDD of 1TB but I am not sure for the SSSD. Any advice highly appreciated.

A 1 TB M.2 SSD disk 2280 form factor is exactly the same size and shape regardless of storage capacity so will fit. There is nothing in the hardware that restricts the use of any such drive currently on the market. I have seen them as large as 2 TB but OMG the price of such a device! Even a 1 TB is not going to be cheap and yet it will work fine.

Something like a WD Blue M.2 or an Samsung Evo 860 will be fine. But take a look at the Service Manual. On this model access to the M.2 slot requires motherboard removal so it is a much higher level of difficulty.

Welcome to HP Forums!

(Important Note: Go Crazy with the MODs, do what you love to your PC is what I say as a upgrade/custom enthusiast, However, HP recommends that you go easy on it as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance and also, the upgrade-able parts listed below are purely for your ease, though the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion).

  • 512-GB, M.2 SATA solid-state drive with TLC
  • 256-GB, M.2 SATA solid-state drive
  • 128-GB, M.2 SATA solid-state drive

Support for M.2 SATA solid-state drive (support for storage function, port 1; not available on computer models equipped with an Intel Pentium processor)

To answer your question, HP hasn't tested your device with the 1TB SSD, hence you may do it on your own, if you wish, although I personally suggest you check with the local tech to see if it fits before purchasing the parts.

Keep me posted,

For I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed, and your device is up and running again, if you don't get back to us 😉

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Dear Huffer,

The 1TB Samsung Evo 860 is exactly what I had in mind! Thank you very much for your quick response! Fortunately there are videos showing the removal of the motherboard.
