So, I was wondering, can I put a 1tb sata 3 2.5" ssd in my laptop? the current ssd in it is a 500gb nvme pcie 3.0 ssd, and I dont really know what to ssd to put in it...

You should be able to add 2.5" SSD or HDD using standard HDD's or SSD's . For your question, you should be able to add 2.5" SATA SSD, one example

You have to buy Hard drive connector/cable  part # L72698-001 first. Part is N/A from HP, you have to search elsewhere, including eBay.

You can use 1TB or 2TB NVMe SSD to your machine. Please check what is its existing drive and use it as the guide. PCIe Gen 4 is compatible with PCIe Gen 3, may be more expensive.
