I accidentally stepped on my laptop the other day, and was wondering if I can replace my HP Victus LCD screen (165hz, FHD display) with a QHD one. Same hz except the screen ratio.

I found something similar like HP Omen’s display except it has QHD. Will it work?

Hi @Matthew_FA,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop's screen!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Replacing the display of your HP Victus laptop from a Full HD (FHD) screen to a Quad HD (QHD) screen is theoretically possible, but there are several factors to consider before proceeding with this upgrade:

Compatibility Considerations:

  1. Screen Size and Connector Type: Ensure the replacement QHD screen is compatible in terms of size (e.g., 15.6 inches) and has the same connector type (e.g., eDP connector).
  2. Refresh Rate: Both screens need to have the same refresh rate (165Hz) to match the original display specifications.
  3. Screen Cable: The internal screen cable (ribbon cable) might need to support higher resolution (QHD). Some cables designed for FHD may not support QHD signals.
  4. Driver Support: Ensure that your laptop’s GPU and drivers are compatible with the higher resolution QHD screen.

I hope this helps.

Can you help find screens compatible with the HP Victus R0286TX model?

Hi @Matthew_FA,

Thank you for the response

You can upgrade your HP Victus 16 (model R0286TX) FHD (1920×1080, 165 Hz) display to a QHD (2560×1440, 165 Hz) panel, but only if you meet these compatibility requirements:

Essential Requirements for QHD Upgrade:

Feature

Details

Connector Type

Must be a 40-pin eDP cable, bottom-right positioned. newegg.com+15laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk+15drivesolutions.com+15

Panel Size & Refresh Rate

16.1″ display, 165 Hz refresh

Cable Capability

Original internal cable must support higher resolution, if not, you'll need to replace it too

BIOS / GPU Support

Both Intel and NVIDIA GPUs in your R0286TX model support QHD on eDP, so compatibility is good once panel and cable are correct
